CARCOAR DAM BOAT RAMP

Public BBQ

Carcoar Dam Boat Ramp offers free camping with expansive sites overlooking the dam and surrounding hills. The campground provides flush toilets and cold water showers, though the facilities need refurbishment and the showers lack privacy curtains. BBQ areas are available for day visitors and campers. The setting features beautiful scenery with opportunities for fishing from the boat ramp platform, and a pine forest walk leads to views of the dam wall. Sites vary in flatness but there's enough space for everyone to find suitable ground. The location gets very busy during long weekends and school holidays, so early arrival is recommended. Basic amenities mean self-sufficiency is advisable, particularly bringing your own drinking water since the showers use dam water. The peaceful atmosphere, interrupted only by birdcalls and nearby sheep, makes it popular with caravanners. Wind farm views add to the landscape appeal.
